This is new in AktivFilter 3
Compared to the previous version AktivFilter 2.4, the new version AktivFilter 3 has numerous innovations.
Here is a short survey:
- When you input the capacitor values, the values stay unchanged, even if you change the specification. So these values need not to be put in again.
- When specifying a bandpassfilter, you input the bandwidth (instead of the quality).
- When you design a multi-stage filter, the gain can be distributed equally over all stages or the gain of each stage can be choosen depending on the quality and pole-frequency of the stage. Thus the influence of real opamp-parameters on the filters frequency response can be clearly reduced. Furthermore, when designing a multistage highpass- or lowpassfilter you can alternatively input the gain of each stage individually.
- When you design a bandpass, the resistor R2, which determines the resonance frequency, can be calculated alternatively with a continious value.
- The menuitem "Result" has a new item "Filterparameters", which shows the characteristical filterparameters frequency and gain of each stage.
- The graphical output of the frequency response can additionally show the group delay response (activation under menuitem Options - Graphics...).
- In the graphical output of the frequency response a cursor with the actual coordinates (frequency, gain, group delay) is shown.
- The graphical output of the frequency response can be printed out quickly and easily by choosing a menuitem (File - Print...).
- The structure of the menu has been adjusted according to the standard of most Windows-programs.
- The software code has been refactored and big parts of the code have been rewritten. The rendering of the graphical output has been improved by using a new algorithm.
- The program is now 100 % compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7. Users of Windows XP and Windows 2000 have no disadvantages from that.
- The new Professional Edition allows you to integrate your own opamp-models into the program. For this, the AktivFilter 3 Professional Edition is delivered together with the tool OpAmp-Modell, which enables you to create precise opamp-models quickly and easily.
